The Los Angeles Master Chorale is seeking a full-time PR & Communications Manager who will play a vital role in coordinating and implementing the organization’s institutional and programmatic communications and public relations strategies. The successful candidate will have the ability to:

·         work productively in a fast-paced environment,

·         plan and manage projects independently as well as work collaboratively with colleagues on team projects

·         anticipate needs and challenges

·         solve problems as an integral member of the administrative team

 The Manager will report to the Director of Marketing and collaborate with external Public Relations consultants.


 ·         Collaborate with administrative staff and PR consultants to design, manage and implement a strategic external and internal communications plan to favorably impact awareness and understanding of the Los Angeles Master Chorale brand identity and audience engagement

·         Plan, organize and manage all press/media events and activities; Set-up and manage logistics for all press interviews,  photo and video shoots

·         Write press releases and other media communications

·         Create digital press release template

·         Pitch editorial coverage opportunities to targeted media outlets

·         Develop and manage content for social media, Master Chorale blog and eBlast campaigns to increase audience engagement with the Master Chorale

·         Develop and maintain an organized press photo gallery and a press/media library

·         Help build internal media database aligned with the Master Chorale’s database, Tessitura

·         Participate in the creation and implementation of audience development campaigns, including festivals, special events and audience development activities

·         Coordinate PR measurement reporting for all campaigns

·         Collect and distribute press coverage to board and staff

·         Assist in maintaining constituent database (including data collection, entry, updating, etc.) and maximizing the powerful analytical tools within the Tessitura client relationship management platform


·         Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, the performing arts or related field

·         Experience as a publicist, or similar role, preferably in the performing arts

·         Excellent writing, proofing and storytelling skills

·         Solid relationships with established local media contacts

·         Knowledge of Microsoft Office software and other database programs

·         Working knowledge of Google Analytics for measuring all communication initiatives


·         A passion for and knowledge of the performing arts

·         An affinity and genuine interest in public relations and communications

·         Superb communication skills: written and verbal, strong public speaker and excellent listener

·         Highly professional, mature and confident

·         Accomplished relationship builder and ambassador

·         Sense of humor, energetic, positive attitude

·         Complete confidentiality and discretion, tact and poise, and sound judgment

·         Must be a self-starter and be able to handle multiple tasks concurrently

·         A drive to succeed personally, yet to support team success and foster a culture of professionalism and respect

·         Effective and collaborative team player across all levels of the organization


Position Status: Full-time/Exempt

Position Compensation:  commensurate with experience, plus benefits
