Job Description

The Young Musicians Foundation is seeking a coordinator for its Teaching Artist Program (TAP). TAP brings music education to students at schools and other sites in underserved communities in the greater Los Angeles area.

The Program Coordinator is an administrative position. This person will work closely with the Program Director and the Artistic Director & Director of Ensembles to support the implementation and administration of all aspects of TAP programming, activities and performances. Responsibilities include maintaining all databases of Teaching Artist and student information, overseeing program enrollment, and creating effective systems for storing and reporting program information. Under the supervision of the Program Director and Artistic Director & Director of Ensembles, the Program Coordinator will be expected to develop supportive relationships with Teaching Artists, students and community partners. This is a full time, non-exempt position with benefits.

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills; ability to collaborate and communicate effectively and efficiently
  • Must be a self-motivated problem-solver who is adaptable and resourceful
  • Must be proficient in basic office computing and software such as MS Suite, Google Suite and Dropbox



  • Relevant experience in arts administration and/or education
  • Knowledge of music
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support and coordinate with Site Managers, Site Administration, Teaching Artists and TAP staff regarding site details, requests and correspondence
  • Ensure that all forms, clearances, attendance and other records are completed according to schedule
  • Organize and maintain all relevant databases and records
  • Manage, maintain and update student information databases
  • Verify and review attendance records monthly
  • Supervise and update inventory records
  • Oversee and run payroll for TAP program bimonthly
  • Assist with event management as needed
  • Communicate with parents, students and instructors as needed
  • Assist in the recruitment of new Teaching Artists; create and maintain job postings
  • Track and ensure that site calendars are current and up to date
  • Track instrumental and general music supplies
  • Verify information and correspondence from Site Managers is input/fulfilled as needed
  • Email due dates, trainings, coachings and concert reminders to Teaching Artists
  • Produce concert flyers and student/parent memos
  • Maintain the music library and curricular resources for Teaching Artists
