THE ORGANIZATION
The Los Angeles Music and Art School (LAMusArt) was founded in 1945 to provide youth in the community of Boyle Heights and East Los Angeles with safe and engaging arts programs during unsupervised after-school hours. Since its inception, its mission has been to provide equitable access to year-round, multidisciplinary, and after-school artistic programs for under-resourced students living in the community of East Los Angeles.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Programs Associate is an hourly position that serves as thecoordinator of LAMusArt’s instructional programs and community relations activities.The successful applicant will have a passion for the arts, interest in helping under-resourced communities, and be both a collaborator and self-directed.The Programs Associate reports to the Executive Director and works closely with teaching artists and office staff.They will be responsible for the following:
DUTIES
•Coordinate, supervise, and develop LAMusArt’s arts instruction programs in music, dance, visual art, anddrama
•Work with the Executive Director and Teaching Artists to ensure LAMusArt’s curriculum quality, impact and accessibility
•Help recruit, monitor, train, and implement retention strategies for high-quality teaching faculty
•Track, evaluate and report on student enrollment
•Coordinate submission of quarterly arts curriculum by all instructors
•Work with the Office Manager to coordinate registration, billing, and student/parent support
•Uphold policies and expectations, including curriculum documentation, instruction, and evaluation protocols
•Audit and adjust website program descriptions and events
•Coordinate special events, including recitals, competitions, and community events
•Assist the Executive Director in developing partnerships with other educational institutions and maintain community relations activitieswith libraries, school partners, and other community-based organizations
•Assist in the development of marketing materials such as flyers, brochures, newsletters, and reports
•Capture social media contentfor the organization(Facebook, Youtube, Instagram, Twitter)
•Coordinates content for LAMusArt’s website and social media activities•Assist the Executive Director as required
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
•Bachelor’s degree in an arts field (such as performance or education) from an accredited college or university is required
•A minimum of two yearsof arts instruction, programming and/or nonprofit experience
•Knowledge of California Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) standards
•Strong computer skills (especially in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher)
•Knowledge of virtual and social media (Facebook, Twitter, website development and management)
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills•Must pass criminal background check and drug screening
•Must provide immunization and COVID-19 vaccination documentation •Good organizational and time management skills and the ability to balance multiple tasks and responsibilities
•Familiar with CRM platforms
•Ability to work cooperatively and as part of a team
•Must be dedicated to improving access to Arts Education for underserved communities
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
•Able and willing to work evenings and weekends as required.
•Possession of a valid California driver’s license, personal vehicle, and valid insurance.
•Bilingual (English & Spanish) preferred
