Armory Center for the Arts based in Pasadena, California, seeks a full-time hourly/non-exempt Public Programs Associate (40hrs/week). Under the supervision of the Vice President of Programs, the Public Programs Associate is responsible for researching, planning, and implementing exhibition-related programs that inspire curiosity and draw new, diverse audiences. This position is a hybrid work model - work from home and in-office. This position is made possible with support from the Getty Foundation through its Getty Marrow Emerging Professionals Pilot Program. Candidates must be an alumni of the Getty Marrow Undergraduate Internship Program (formerly the Getty Multicultural Undergraduate Internship).

Duties & Responsibilities

Manage the operational aspects of on-site and virtual public programs, including but not limited to:
Assisting on-site coordination of in-person programs, as well as assist with virtual programming; preparing all necessary collateral and event materials;
Providing visitor relations service before and during events;
Coordinating set-up and break down of events as needed (virtually and in-person) working with Facilities and Programs teams;
Welcoming speakers and attendees, being an on-site point person for logistical requests;
Act as point person for tech needs for events, manage sound check.

Manage the administrative aspects of on-site and virtual public programs, including but not limited to:
o Support the development of public programs by conducting research, and providing feedback on program scheduling;
o Help to develop community partnerships to support public programs; provide content for all web pages and reservation links for programs, including generating event description copy, event images, and any instructional language for attendees;
o Develop regular reports and analysis following events to research and provide insight on departmental finances and audience metrics;
o Support visitor relations for programs via phone and email;
o Work closely with the Marketing and Communications team to increase public program attendance by marketing programs through printed, electronic, and social media outlets;
o Work closely with the graphic design team to coordinate and produce customized collateral marketing materials;
o Communicate with vendors and process invoices for payment.

Prepare occasional content for quarterly donor/member newsletter, social media posts, and other external communications pieces;
Other program duties as assigned.

Alumni of the Getty Marrow Undergraduate Internship Program;
At least one year of experience in public programming, outreach/community engagement, or museum education with experience in events planning, development, and implementation of educational/public programs, preferably at a cultural institution;
Strong written and verbal communication skills;
Excellent organizational skills, including problem-solving, multitasking, and the ability to meet deadlines;
Ability to address the public and interact on a professional level with guest speakers, artists, scholars, authors, and others;
Ability to develop collaborative relationships and partnerships both externally with other organizations, as well as interdepartmentally within the Armory;
Working mastery of computer programs including: G (Google) Suite, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel;
Experience with remote working and/or collaborative tools including Google Meet and Zoom, is preferred;
Attention to detail and ability to organize data, schedules, tasks and projects;
Availability to work evening hours or weekend days;
Passion for the Armory’s mission and its cultural equity values is essential;
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
