Registrar/Exhibitions Coordinator

Los Angeles Contemporary art gallery is looking to hire a full-time Registrar/Exhibitions Coordinator for immediate hire.

The ideal candidate will be a highly organized, articulate and personable individual with a bachelor's degree in art history and previous administrative experience in a gallery or museum setting. He or she must present a professional appearance and be capable of multi-tasking under pressure.



Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Plan and manage de-installation and installation of exhibitions
  • Creates consignment agreements of incoming work with artists
  • Creates consignment agreements of outgoing work with galleries and institutions
  • Creates loan agreements with galleries and institutions
  • Ensures returned of works on consignment within acceptable period and follows up with sale information
  • Maintain inventory of all work in storage
  • Generates digital records for all objects arriving in storage, and updates
    records each time an object is moved
  • Generates Incoming and Outgoing Checklist for works in transport
  • Periodically performs location audits to insure accuracy of records
  • Marks all objects in warehouse with unique identifying stickers
  • Performs condition exams on all new arrivals or loan objects
  • Make shipping arrangements for clients
  • Make shipping arrangements for work to and from Los Angeles and Palm Beach Galleries and artist studios.
  • Schedule and oversee art handlers
  • Maintain petty cash balance and records
  • Send all receipts to bookkeeper
  • Send all reimbursements to bookkeeper
  • Enter costs associated with individual works into database system
  • Maintain organization of the server



  • Bachelors degree in art history, studio art, business or related field
  • Preferred candidates will have past experience working in a gallery, museum, or auction house for at least one year, or have had multiple internships
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills – both phone and email etiquette
  • Detail oriented and highly organized
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Well versed in Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office
  • Prior experience with FileMaker Pro or data entry
