Shoshana Wayne Gallery is seeking a part-time (with the potential to become full-time) Registrar/Gallery Assistant. Candidates must have the ability to multi-task, work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment, and be highly organized and detail-oriented.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Arranging domestic and international shipments
- Scheduling of crating, packing, and deliveries
- Gallery inventory management: Enter and catalogue artwork, keep track of incoming and outgoing inventory
- Maintaining daily gallery operations
- Assisting with drafting correspondence; research artists, artworks and exhibitions
- Drafting and sending e-mail blasts and maintaining gallery contact lists using MailChimp
- Manage gallery Social Media presence, including generating content and growing gallery social media following
- Assisting in coordinating exhibition openings, special events, and art fair participation
- Maintain gallery website content via SquareSpace, including current and upcoming exhibitions, artist CVs, press articles, digital images
- Scheduling and organizing calendar
- Coordinating and booking travel arrangements as needed
- Answering phones and taking messages
- Office management: ordering supplies, overseeing maintenance of office space
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE
-Minimum of 1 year experience in Registration required.
-Familiarity with both domestic and international shipping protocols is essential
-Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator)
Possess knowledge of Photoshop for basic design work such as print ads and illustrations
- Comfortable troubleshooting computer issues as needed
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite: MSWord, Excel
- Attention to detail
- Strong ability to multitask and prioritize as needed
- Must have high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations, discretion
- Basic knowledge of art handling best practices
- Demonstrated interest in contemporary art
EDUCATION:
BA in Art History or related field strongly preferred, but not required
