RLA Conservation of Art + Architecture is one of the nation's most well regarded sculpture and architectural conservation firms. We seek to hire a senior technician to help manage projects in our main Los Angeles office. This position allows for applicants with a range of experience, including art handling, sculpture fabrication, foundry work, scene painting, or art-making. A knowledge of modern and contemporary art, ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, and maintain a positive attitude while supervising others is vital. This position is for permanent full-time worth with job growth and promotion possibilities. It reports to RLA's Operations Director. Occasional overnight travel is essential, ranging from 1 day to up to 2 consecutive weeks at a time. Prior experience in conservation is desired, but not required. The general duties are as follows:

 Performs hands-on conservation treatments guided by conservators. Projects range from cleaning, repair, and conservation of a wide range of sculptural and architectural materials.
 Maintains the organization of all tools and materials and ordering supplies, including knowing what needs repair and replacement.
 Defines with the lead conservator who goes to what project- including helping assign jobs to other technicians and working alongside them, including troubleshooting and managing multiple projects.
 Helps intake artworks, pack and move pieces to and from the conservation sites, and organizes logistics that may include equipment rentals, scaffolding, lifts, and permits.
 Works with the Operations Director to approve vacations and PTO for technician staff
 Provides assistance with onsite assessment of conditions including photography and writing up notes and reports.
 Helps make travel arrangements for the technician and conservation staff.
 Makes sure site personnel are sticking to tasks and that we are meeting target budgets
 Other aspects of treatment and management of the team.

The candidate must be able to: lift up to 30 pounds, work on a ladder, lift, or scaffolding, possess an active driver's license and have their own transportation, be able to work with power tools and chemicals, travel overnight out of Los Angeles, fly on an airplane, submit to a background check, speak and write excellent English. The following skills, which are desired but not required, will add to the overall salary range for the candidate: HVLP spraying experience Welding/ soldering experience Airbrushing Masonry
Salary- $57,000.00 - $64,000.00 or Hourly $27-$30 commensurate with experience. 
8 holidays, 2-3 weeks vacation time, PTO, payment towards health insurance, pension plan after 1 year, annual bonus of 3-5% of salary,
