Description
Blackwidow LLC is a Los Angeles-based fabrication and fine art services
company specializing in high-spec aluminum panels and cold-press vacuum
mounting. Other products and services include strainers and stretchers, framing,
plinths, pedestals & custom exhibition displays, as well as unique fabrication
projects.
Much of the work we do is unique and innovative in nature, requiring the use of
3D technology and CNC machinery. Commonly used materials include hard and
soft woods, plywood, solid-surface materials, plastics, steel, aluminum and

Currently we are seeking a highly motivated Shop Fabricator for a full-time entry
level position. The individual occupying this position will work with and report
directly to the Head of Operations as well as the Principals in charge of
fabrication.
Duties include:
- Working on various aspects of shop fabrication/production
- Operation and safe use of various wood and metal working machinery,
equipment and hand tools
- Effective coordination with other team members on time sensitive projects
- Time and material tracking on a project-by-project basis
- General maintenance, cleaning and organization of shop, materials and
equipment
- Operation of forklift (training provided)
- Driving and operation of box truck with lift gate
- Some off-site work (deliveries, installation work, etc.)
Requirements:
- Must be comfortable in shop environment with basic knowledge & familiarity
with woodworking, metalworking and solid surface construction
- 1-2 years relevant work experience in a similar field
- Excellent communication skills
- Eagerness and aptitude to learn new skills and techniques
- Must be able to work flexible hours / schedule when required
- Ability to read and understand detailed plans and instructions
- College degree
- Proficient use of Email, Microsoft Office & Google Doc applications
- CA Driver’s License with clean record
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds unassisted and be able to bend, stretch and stand for extended periods of time
Additional Skills a plus:
- TIG welding and metalwork
- Knowledge of CNC machinery
- AutoCAD
- Knowledge & experience with canvas/linen stretching and preparation of painting grounds
- Experience with print making and various forms of mounting (photo, paper, etc.)
- Experience with art handling and installation
Compensation:
40hr work week (9am-5pm, Mon-Fri). Starting rate of pay $18/hr
