The Ojai Playwrights Conference has existed for over 20 years developing unproduced socio-political plays of artistic excellence from diverse writers both emerging and established. OPC is seeking a Social Media Manager for part-time employment between March 15, 2019 and September 15, 2019. The Social Media Manager will manage all social media content/posts including selecting/formatting images, writing content (including strategic use of hashtags and link to website, when appropriate), and responding to comments/posts from others on OPC’s 3 social media outlets (FB, Instagram, Twitter). From March 15, 2019 through May 15, 2019, the Social Media Manager will be focused on the May 4 Spring Benefit Gala, promoting the Gala through social media. In June, the focus will shift to the Summer Conference, with three posts a week starting in early July, thru end of July, then daily once the conference begins. General topics/posts would include, but not be limited to: promoting OPC, promo of specific events that might need some extra love, features on each playwright and writers-in residence, maybe some actors that have been cast for the summer, cool tidbits about the conference and festival experience in general using past photos, etc. Also featuring/linking to new stories published about OPC.
The Social Media Manager will develop and implement strategy to include ways to build engagement/audience through engaging topics and content, tagging and links to current playwrights/participants when applicable, and other key entities. During the conference week, the Social Media Manager will be on-site to do short interviews/video clips of the playwrights about their new works for social media (i.e. 1 to 2 minutes each), and take photos of each of the library readings, the lunches, the dinners - capture the ambience and experience of week 1. Then during the festival week this person will be on site to shoot rehearsal rooms, campus life, company members, and general ambience - audience, picnics on the lawn, after hours parties, etc. The Social Media Manager will build a photo library from images taken - upload into a shared folder system - caption all photos for future use. After the festival they will create a few more posts to wind things down, and then hand off to annual OPC staff. The Social Media manager will assist in managing the archives, with oversight from the Marketing Director and Managing Director.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate should have excellent communication and writing skills, be extremely well organized, versatile, and adept at managing deadlines with grace. Depth of knowledge and familiarity with all platforms of electronic marketing and social media sites is required. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who is building a portfolio of clients and contacts. A desire to work alongside a passionate and small staff working collectively to support the development of vital and important plays is required.
Compensation:
This is a part-time, independent contractor position. The Social Media Manager will receive a stipend of $1,000. The position is mostly work-from-home, with regular phone and occasional in-person meetings. The Auction Manager is required to attend the Summer Conference and Festival July 28 – August 11, 2019. OPC will provide food and lodging when in Ojai.
