Sound Designer for The Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts
The Wallis & Four Larks seeks a highly collaborative Sound Designer for their new adaptation of Frankenstein. The production, currently in development, will combine live music and physical theatre, with an ensemble of 12 actor/musicians who will be singing and playing strings, woodwind, pitched percussion, found objects, prepared piano and organs. The score will be created by director/composer Mat Sweeney, arranged in partnership with the ensemble. The Sound Designer will collaborate on electronic elements of the music and audio design, including pre-recorded content and digital manipulation/live processing. We're interested in collaging a junkyard of technological/medical/industrial sounds that span the 200 years since Mary Shelley's novel was written, and tracing a trajectory from the organic/human voice to an increasingly digitized one. We're eager to find a collaborator excited by the material/possibilities with a skill set that spans electronic composition, live processing, orchestral & vocal miking, and sound design for a dense intimate space.
