Latino Theater Company/LATC
Los Angeles, CA
DESCRIPTION
The Latino Theater Company/LATC is hiring a Stage Combat instructor to teach daily during our Summer Youth Conservatory. Dates of employment are for five weeks from July 9 - August 11.
Classes will take place Fridays from 3-5pm and some flexible days during the week of August 16-11.
LATC's Summer Youth Conservatory is designed to create an opportunity for high school students (9th to 12th Grade) from underserved communities to experience and train in a professional setting. Up to 30 students will be selected. At the LATC, students experience and train in a university-style program to obtain the necessary tools for theater production. They attend courses in acting, playwriting, dance, voice/speech, theater analysis, and movement. The students also read college level plays and texts to spark their imagination, enabling them to explore the expanse of their own creativity.
For five weeks, professionally trained directors, writers, dancers, actors, scholars and theater technicians work with the students as they improvise, write, direct, and act in their own short scenes and poems. The program culminates with a showcase production created and produced by the students. Each student develops their self-discipline and self-esteem through the rigorous curriculum of this program. The LATC Summer Youth Conservatory provides students with unique and valuable experiences designed to help them develop the skills they need to succeed in college and future careers. Students from LATC's Summer Youth Conservatory have moved on to train at UCLA, USC, MIT, Yale, Occidental, and Brown Universities.
