The Santa Monica Youth Orchestra is recruiting an intern for our Opus World Music Summer Camp through the Los Angeles County Art Commission Summer Internship Program. We are offering a full-time, paid internship for 10-weeks beginning close to June 1, 2019. The position pays $14.25/hour. Deadline to apply is Wednesday, May 1, 2019. 2019 Arts Internship positions are open to currently enrolled undergraduate (2 or 4-year) college students who reside or attend college in Los Angeles County. Students must have completed at least one semester of college by June 1, 2019, or will complete their undergraduate degree between May 1 – September 1, 2019 in order to participate. Students must be able to legally work in the United States.
The Santa Monica Youth Orchestra is a socioeconomically and culturally diverse music community that provides accessible, high quality music education and performance opportunities to youth in Santa Monica. Opus World Music Camp Intern
The Santa Monica Youth Orchestra seeks a Summer Camp Intern for summer 2019 to assist our Executive Director in the operations of our Opus World Music Camp. S/he will help coordinate the planning, execution, documentation, and evaluation of this world music day camp serving 100 young musicians ages 4-17.
SMYO expects all applicants to have basic computer skills, and to have experience with the Microsoft Office Suite. Applicants should also be comfortable working both in a professional small office setting and with elementary- through high-school age students. Ideally, candidates should have an interest in performing arts, in teaching, and/or in event production. They should be able to communicate professionally and effectively with a wide range of people including children, parents, faculty members, and organization board members.
