TYPE OF POSITION:  Full-time (35 hours per week)

The Actors' Gang presents new, unconventional and uncompromising plays and dynamic reinterpretations of the classics; restores the ancient sense of the stage as a shared sacred space; introduces theatre to children and helps them find their own creative voices; and brings the freedom of self-expression to the incarcerated.

 

About The Prison Project

In 2006, astounded by high recidivism rates and mass incarceration, The Actors’ Gang, responded by creating The Prison Project. Today, over 20 company members work to facilitate theatre ensemble workshops inside twelve California State Prisons, two Reentry facilities and Los Angeles County Probation-juvenile facilities. The work endeavors to unlock human potential in the interest of effective rehabilitation, preparing participants for life beyond bars. To date more than 900 incarcerated people have participated in The Prison Project.

 

Job Description

The Actors’ Gang Prison Project – seeks an entry-level full-time (35 hours per/week) Program Associate who has a passion for the Arts and criminal justice reform and/or social services.

We are looking for someone who is on-time, organized, team-oriented, self-starter and reliant. Position requirements proficiency on Mac, with Microsoft Office (word, excel) Google-mail,

-calendar, -documents and -drive. Fifty percent of the time will be scanning documents, data entry and management, inventory and ordering equipment, and contact entry and management. Accuracy and following protocols are a must. Writing skills/experience are a plus. Ability to work in an unconventional environment a plus - office space is in a working active theatre – space is continually in use. There is potential for this position to grow.

 

Job Qualification

Education: Associates Degree Preferred.

Experience: 1-2 years of administrative experience preferred. Experience working in arts organizations and/or non-profit organizations a plus.
