Social and Public Art Resource Center

The Social and Public Art Resource Center (SPARC) is a cultural center that creates public art and arts programming as a vehicle to promote civic dialogue, foster cross-cultural understanding and address critical social issues.
SPARC is seeking qualified Teaching Artists to work with K-12th grade students from September-December 2017. Each Teaching Artist will work closely with 2-4 classrooms. Teaching Artists will develop weekly lesson plans that introduce students to an artistic discipline. Teaching Artists will work with students to develop an exciting culminating performance or project to be presented to their peers and families.
We are seeking Teaching Artists in the following disciplines:
- Hip-Hop Dance
- Poetry/Spoken Word
- Graphic Design
Teaching Artists can apply as either lead instructors or teaching assistants. We are especially interested in arts educators with experience in interdisciplinary arts instruction and media/technology curriculum integration.
Approximate Hours Per Week
6-8 hours per week
Lead Instructor: $35 per hour
Teaching Assistant: $20 per hour
Cost for materials will be covered by SPARC
Experience practicing and facilitating an artistic discipline
Experience writing lesson plans
Experience working with K-12 students
