The Brentwood Art Center (BAC) is a nonprofit community-based art school in Los Angeles that has provided fine arts instruction since 1971. BAC is hiring teaching artists to join our outstanding creativity community to teach the following classes to adults and children on weekday evenings and Saturday afternoons:
- Adult Ceramics wheel and hand building Sat. 2:00-4:30
- Adult Landscape painting Sat. 2-5
- Adult Intro. abstract painting Thurs. 6:30-9:30
- Children’s Ceramics, wheel and hand building, Thurs. 4-6pm
- Children’s Mixed Media, Monday, 4:00-5:30 p.m. ages 5-6
- Children’s Painting and Drawing, Monday, 4:00-6:00 p.m. ages 9-12
We are looking for teachers who are dynamic, positive, and creative who can provide outstanding fine arts education experiences in a nurturing environment. Candidates should have a BA in fine arts, experience in arts education, strong foundation in art history, and for children’s classes, familiarity with the California Visual Arts Content Standards. Candidates should have a passion for teaching adults and / or children ages 5+ in elementary, middle and high school.
Teachers will be responsible for designing their own curriculum. Projects should be based on the principals of art, elements of design and for children’s classes, the California Visual Arts Content Standards. Focus should be on nurturing personal growth and helping students develop their own ideas and individual style. It is essential that teachers can work collaboratively part of a team, have a positive attitude and the ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, staff and faculty.
HOURS: 3-6 hrs. per week with potential for growth
LOCATION: The Brentwood Art Center, 13031 Montana Ave. at 26th
SALARY Starting salary is $38 per hr. depending on education and experience.
WHEN: Fall classes begin the week of Sept. 17th.
