SUMMARY

BBMT is seeking a Business Manager, reporting directly to the Executive Director, to ensure the effectiveness of business operations, with the main focus on financial management of the organization including monthly budget reconciliation, budget monitoring, and relevant financial reporting.


KEY QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE

Seeking proven experience in the following areas:

  • Budget/financial management: Experience with managing a $1M+ budget. Experience with financial software (QuickBooks ideally), monitoring budgets, working knowledge of basic accounting terms & practices.
  • Nonprofit operations: Knowledge of (minimum), or experience with (preferred), general nonprofit operations including basic HR practices, compliance, policies, nonprofit regulations & registrations.
  • Project / relationship management: Must manage and oversee all facility maintenance and operations including vendors (security, IT, etc), capital projects, events. This requires attention to detail, managing multiple projects simultaneously, and being incredibly organized.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee strategic and day-to-day financial management, working with bookkeeper and Executive Director, including:
  • Create and monitor annual and strategic budgets
  • Execute all financial reporting
  • Develop needed policies and procedures
  • Manage revenue-generating activities of the non-profit corporation
  • Assist the Executive Director in coordinating business activities and programmatic activities to streamline revenue-generation.
  • Ensure compliance to all city, state and federal regulations.
  • Oversee the business policies and procedures of the non-profit corporation including human resource activities, health and safety compliance and insurance requirements.
  • Work closely with the Executive Director to develop and continually evolve a business plan that leverages the building and assets to ensure the financial health of the non-profit corporation while prioritizing the needs of mission-serving programming.
  • Collaborate with the Operations Director to ensure building upkeep and improvements and assist the Executive Director in communicating with the building owner.
  • Supervise Department Directors.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2 - 3 years experience in facility management (nonprofit preferred).
  • Working knowledge of bookkeeping and financial management (QuickBooks and nonprofit experience preferred).
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and interact effectively with multiple stakeholders.
  • MUST be detail-oriented and organized.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a highly collaborative team.
  • Positive energy and the ability to manage many personalities with respect and diplomacy.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Business development or entrepreneurial experience is highly desired.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
  • Demonstrates self-awareness, understands the perspectives of others and approaches interpersonal relationships with empathy.
  • Demonstrated ability to create, implement and evaluate systems that support efficient operations and program delivery.
  • General knowledge and experience with tools for minor repairs (or willingness to learn).

WORKING CONDITIONS, PHYSICAL EFFORT, LOCATION

  • Moderate physical effort. May require occasional lifting, handling, pushing, or moving objects up to 50 lbs.
  • Standing and walking over a two to three hour period for programs and events.
  • Regular weekend and evening work hours to accommodate programs.
  • Primary work location: Bob Baker Marionette Theater.


COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Annual salary is $45,000 (non-negotiable)
