POSITION SUMMARY

APCH has a 20-year history of providing high quality multidisciplinary arts exposure, instruction and production/performance opportunities. With the opening of The Bridge Theater at A Place Called Home, our Teen & Performing Arts Center, we have added a 178-seat state of the art theater to our campus and we are committed to providing theater education and technical theater training, as well as hosting and supporting multidisciplinary performance and production opportunities, including Spoken Word, Concerts, Plays, Screenings and Community Meetings. The Bridge Theater at A Place Called Home is primarily used as an in-house facility, including daily academic classes, and also welcomes guest artists and resident productions.

Under the direction of the Theater Program Manager the Theater Technical Coordinator assists in implementing the artistic vision and mission of the theater program. In addition, this role will hold the responsibility to develop, prepare and assist the Theater Program Manager to implement an innovative Theater Tech Program and opportunities for APCH members including administering and instructing an array of technical theater classes. They implement administrative activities related to the program including lesson planning, independent contractors, maintaining their programs budget, field trips, and other programmatic needs and requests.

The Theater Technical Coordinator supports programs and department goals, REACH objectives and agency best practices, and program efficiencies.. Under the direction of the Theater Program Manager, the Theater Technical Coordinator will ensure that the program execution aligns with department expectations, strategy, budget and goals. Additionally this role includes a facilities component, which includes maintaining the Bridge Theater @ APCH, and all technical equipment therein. The Theater Technical Coordinator will work with other APCH programs and outside entities to produce and run events in the space.

The Bridge Theater is a semi-modular event and gathering space, which includes a concession/catering kitchen run in partnership with our Nutrition/Culinary Program and Professional Readiness Employment Program (PREP), as well as a state of the art A/V Control Room with full projection capabilities, including a 3D projector and wireless microphone setup.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work under the Theater Program Manager and with the Theater Program Coordinator to successfully implement relevant goals outlined in the organizations Strategic Plan
  • Assist in developing and planning program work plans, monitoring program progress, and regularly reporting updates on program activities
  • Develop relationships in the neighborhood and arts community to cultivate resources
