The City of Rancho Cucamonga is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Theatre Technician I. This position will perform work for all related theatrical departments including sound, lighting, carpentry, and wardrobe. This position will assist with technical support for the productions at the Lewis Family Playhouse, including related duties as required.  

The Lewis Family Playhouse is a state-of-the-art 540 seat theatrical and live performance venue located in the Victoria Gardens Cultural Center in the City of Rancho Cucamonga, California. The Playhouse presents a full season of professional theatre, music, dance, comedy, and headline artists and also produces a season of professional Theatre for Young Audience productions. This position requires working flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

$11.95 - $15.33 per hour, part-time

Under the direct supervision of the Technical Coordinator, this position serves as stagehand labor for productions presented or produced at the Lewis Family Playhouse in such capacities as lighting, audio, video, rigging, and carpentry operations, show and event installation, operation and strike. Additionally, this position may assist with set-up, operation and strike  complete where performance systems are incorporated elsewhere within the Cultural Center and the City of Rancho Cucamonga. 


Successful candidate must be at least 18 years of age with equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade; have strong working knowledge of theatrical production systems and the care, maintenance, and troubleshooting of said problems. 


Experience with theatrical, maintenance, and show operation practices; ability to read and understand blueprints and event down plans; and possess better than average understanding of theatrical principals. Must be comfortable working in a team environment including working with professional entertainers as well as community and amateur groups. Must be comfortable working in diverse environments and will be expected to interface with both in-house and traveling productions.
