position purpose

LACO’s marketing and patron services team is responsible for creating positive personal
experiences for every orchestra engagement. The team’s primary goals are to develop excellent
relationships with existing and new patrons, reach annual sales goals and to develop patrons who
become lifelong music lovers.

In support of the marketing and advancement departments, this position assists with all box
office and ticketing duties, serving as a front-line contact for LACO patrons. This position
provides prompt and accurate service and embraces LACO’s tagline of “making great music
personal” in all interactions with the Orchestra’s patrons and the community at large.

scope & responsibilities

As part of LACO’s marketing team, the ticket services assistant works closely with the staff,
assisting the team with accurate and timely ticket fulfillment and coordinating as necessary with
LACO venue box office treasurers as well as LACO’s CRM system vendor (Patron Manager).
Cross-training, support and cooperation is expected in all areas.

Responsibilities include:
Provide excellent customer service to all LACO patrons and artists
Support the ticket services & patron experience manager with the following box office functions:
patron interaction for subscription, single ticket, group and online sales; ticket fulfilment and
daily balancing of sales; income reports, database maintenance; packaging and mailing tickets,
subscriptions and other materials
Maintain familiarity with ADA requirements and facilities where LACO performs
Serve as primary liaison for Orchestra musician comp requests
Staff box office on concert weekends and evenings as assigned (usually no more than four
evenings per month during concert season, September to May)
Keep box office organized and stocked, maintaining accurate and clean file systems
Assist in coordinating special ticketing for LACO executives, donors and artists; liaise with
production department about tickets for artists and community partners
Maintain hygiene of LACO’s in-house database (Patron Manager) including Do Not Mail, Do
Not Call, Do Not Trade lists
Additional office administrative details as assigned

experience/characteristics required

The ideal candidate is passionate about the growth of classical music in Los Angeles. He/she has
experience working in a box office, and is familiar with CRMs and ticketing systems such as
Patron Manager. A sharp memory for patron names and needs is a plus. Fluency in a second
language, while not required, is highly desirable.

Every candidate must have a working knowledge of the arts and an enthusiasm for learning
more. He/she must be detail oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment;
must have customer service and cash-handling experience, as well as strong computer skills,
particularly with Microsoft Office and Excel. Must be able to lift up to twenty-five pounds. A
positive and outgoing attitude with a commitment to detail and organization is key to succeeding
in this position. Reliable transportation is required. Position includes some weekend and evening
