I.M. Chait Gallery/Auctioneers, an established Beverly Hills auction house specializing in Asian and international fine and decorative art, is seeking a Mandarin-speaking individual for an entry-level cataloguing position. The ideal candidate will have an educational and/or professional background in fine and decorative art, as well as a desire to cultivate valuation, research and cataloguing skills through on-the-job experience.

Position: Translator/Cataloguer; full time

Responsibilities:

• Communicates with Chinese-speaking consignors and buyers, acting as a liaison between the public and various internal departments
• Prepares catalogue data for items, including condition reports, measurements and lot tags
• With guidance from fellow cataloguing staff, conducts research and writes item descriptions for publishing online and in print
• Translates catalogue text and advertisements
• Other duties as assigned
