Volunteer Coordinator for the Torrance Art Museum

(Senior Recreation Leader)

$13.12- $14.47/hour Effective January 1, 2016

The City of Torrance Community Services Department is currently accepting applications for a Senior Recreation Leader to serve as a Volunteer Coordinator for the Torrance Art Museum, a program of the Cultural Services Division. Under the direction of the Assistant Curator, the Senior Recreation Leader will be responsible for recruiting, scheduling, energizing and recognizing volunteers. Currently, TAM has about 40 volunteers. Additionally, the Senior Recreation Leader will coordinate an annual recognition event and at least one annual field trip.

The volunteer coordinator must be available to work during the week, preferably on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday for 4 hours shifts each day. Additionally they need to be available 4 – 6 times per year on Saturdays for evening opening receptions and Fridays for volunteer meetings and walk-throughs with artists and curators.

Application submissions will be accepted from Thursday, November 5, 2015 at 7:30 a.m. to Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at 5:30 p.m. Only those candidates whose experience best meet the needs of the City and the Department will be invited to participate in an oral interview.

Oral interviews are tentatively scheduled for December 16, 2015.
