Assemblymember Mike Gatto has pulled AB 2540 withdrawing the former bill that would have imposed a 7.5% sales tax on each ticket sold by live theatre productions.

Initially publicized last Friday, April 20, the action was succeeded by swift action from more than 300 electronic letters linked by Arts for LA from the community to the Assemblyman’s office, hundreds of calls generated by supporters of California Arts Advocates, Theatre Communications Group, LA Stage Alliance, and the entire network of theatres in California.
