Salmon Creek Arts is a new non-profit 501(c)3 organization offering land-based arts programs including fellowships awarded to seven artists* annually. We’re looking for a seasoned Assistant to help administer our nacent programs and to support our Executive Director. In this key role you’ll be involved in all aspects of administration, helping start up operations and coordinate our inaugural season. You will need strong administrative, organizational, and written/verbal communication skills. As the first person in this position you’ll have the unique opportunity to help us shape the organization and establish precedents for intentional ways of working.

RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Primary point of contact for the Executive Director and liaison to the Board of Directors.
+ Support the Executive Director in managing day-to-day logistics.
+ Handle all incoming inquiries and emails as first point of contact to the organization in general and the Executive Director in particular.
+ Manage schedules, application reviews, and meetings for the director, board, artist fellows, and other collaborators.
+ Provide support with meetings and programs including itineraries, slide decks, reference materials, and communications.
+ Shadow meetings, take notes and provide specific administrative follow-up as needed.
+ Coordinate the announcement, application, review, and selection process for artist fellowships and other programs.
+ Write and edit emails, draft memos, and prepare communications on the executive’s behalf and in the unique voice of Salmon Creek Arts.
+ Maintain comprehensive and accurate records.
+ Research funding opportunities, assist in drafting grant applications, and establish a database of donors.
+ Assist with work on non-profit business, budgets, and donor relations.

REQUIREMENTS
+ High School diploma or GED.
+ At least 2-3 years of experience supporting executives and teams, ideally within the realms of arts and culture.
+ Impeccable written and verbal communication skills.
+ California-based and able to make occasional visits to Salmon Creek Farm in Albion.
+ Proficient with Google Suite, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and work from your own laptop.
+ Valid CA Driver’s license and vehicle.

TIMING:
+ Position is open until filled.
+ Averaging around 12 hours/week initially and eventually increasing into 2025 as we raise funds and expand programs. (We will only be offering three weeks of programs in 2024 and hopefully around eight weeks in 2025).
+ Most hours flexible, though you should be available to participate in scheduled meetings and respond to emails and inquiries in a timely manner.

LOCATION:
+ This is mostly possible as remote work, with occsasional visits to us in Albion.

COMPENSATION:
+ $30/hour (depending on experience level).
