City of Burbank
The City of Burbank (City) Parks and Recreation Department is excited to invite qualified artists to submit proposals for an artistic shade structure at Johnny Carson Park. Artists of all styles and creative expressions are welcome to take part in this opportunity to contribute to the arts and enhance the vibrancy of Johnny Carson Park.
Johnny Carson Park, a 17-acre regional park located at 400 Bob Hope Drive in Burbank, California, offers stunning nature views and serves as a popular community gathering place. The park provides various amenities, including nature education, gardens, viewing decks, exercise equipment, walking trails, a creek, playgrounds, picnic areas, and a stage. The stage currently lacks a shade structure, and the City is seeking creative proposals for an artistic shade structure that offers relief from the sun while enhancing the beauty and functionality of the stage and park.
This project is part of the City’s Art in Public Places Program, established in 1992. According to the City ordinance, new development projects with a building valuation of over $500,000 must allocate a percentage of the total project costs toward qualified on-site public art or contribute these funds to the City’s Art in Public Places Fund. These non-taxpayer dollars contribute to enhancing, maintaining, and funding art installations in public spaces.
For detailed information and instructions on submitting a proposal, please refer to the Call for Artists document here . Deadline: 04/26/2024
