POSITION SUMMARY
Geffen Playhouse seeks a full-time Development Manager to support the organization’s fundraising efforts and join a 5-person Development team in support of Geffen Playhouse’s mission. The Development Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, and executing many Geffen Playhouse fundraising efforts including the development of a young professionals’ group, general donor development, and special events. The Development Manager supervises the Development Assistant and reports to the Director of Individual Giving while working closely with the Chief Development Officer to implement Geffen Playhouse’s annual fundraising plan.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Overseeing implementation and coordination of all special event activities including annual Backstage at the Geffen benefit, general fundraisers, board activities and donor benefit fulfillment events
• Collaborating closely with the Development and Marketing teams to create event assets including invitations, event specific assets, and follow-up materials
• Managing young professionals’ donor portfolio in support of the establishment of an active and robust young professionals’ program
• Executing our annual donor benefit events program designed to cultivate new donors and steward existing ones while expanding to new populations
• Securing sponsorship and tribute ads for Backstage at the Geffen and special events in collaboration with the Director of Institutional Giving
• Supporting execution of the annual fundraising plan, which includes measurable goals, metrics, and specific strategies for expanding both levels and sources of support.
• Use CRM software critical to recording, researching, prospecting, and cultivating relationships and donations
• Supervising the activities of the Development Assistant, including accurate data entry, appropriate donor recognition and day-to-day departmental administration
• Conversing with donors in the donor lounge during evening and weekend performances as needed, making sure to connect with each visiting party and creating a warm, congenial atmosphere
• Communicating appropriately with donors and VIP constituents via phone, mail, and email
• Recording donor data collected in the donor lounge or through conversation in the Tessitura donor database daily or as necessary
• Other duties as needed

SKILLS AND BACKGROUND
• Two to five years of non-profit fundraising experience required
• Experience in arts & culture nonprofit organizations preferred
• Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet strict deadlines
• Must have strong initiative and demonstrate the ability to learn in a self-directed manner with minimal supervision
• Exceptional customer service, writing, and communications skills
• Possess strong attention to detail, and demonstrate excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Comfort with databases/CRM systems and data entry. Demonstrated fluency with Tessitura, Classy, iWave, and other software preferred
• Comfortable working independently as well as in collaboration with a team and across departments

SALARY

Geffen Playhouse offers comprehensive benefits including medical, vision, and dental insurance, as well as PTO. The pay range is $70,000-$80,000, commensurate with experience. Must be available to work nights and weekends as necessary.
