Salary: $15,000-$20,000
Arts United San Pedro (AUSP) was created after The San Pedro Arts & Cultural District was designated as a California Cultural District in 2017, becoming one of 14 arts districts in California. Together, the city’s cultural organizations and artists formed an Arts coalition, known as Arts United San Pedro, whose purpose and mission is to create a framework to combine efforts to promote San Pedro’s authentic cultures and artists. This includes, but is not limited to, visual, performing, digital artists, culture bearers, galleries, and entertainment venues with a unified approach to advocacy, marketing, and programming.
Position Summary:
This position will work closely with the Coalition Partners and Coordinator to help find, secure and maintain funding opportunities to help continue the coalition’s mission and initiative to create and support artist opportunities in and around San Pedro’s Arts and Cultural District.
This position will also assist in finding sponsors and funding opportunities to help support the annual Arts Open San Pedro event, a two day city wide open studios event that saw over 4,000 attendees this year. This annual event brings in new clientele for artists, as well as having a huge economic impact on the Arts and Cultural District as a whole.
Primary Responsibilities:
Grant Writing and Research:
– Research and identify potential grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government agencies aligned with the coalition’s mission and programs.
– Develop compelling grant proposals, applications, and letters of inquiry, clearly communicating the coalition’s needs and funding will be used.
– Collaborate with internal stakeholders( e.g., partners and coordinator) to gather necessary information, budgets, and supporting documentation for grant applications.
Fundraising and Donor Relations:
– Research and identify potential donors and sponsors
– Cultivate relationships with existing and prospective donors
– Assist in preparing fundraising materials, such as appeal letters, cases statements, and sponsorship proposals
Administrative and Reporting:
– Track donations, grants, and other funding details
– Prepare reports and presentations on fundraising progress and impact for stakeholders and board members
– Ensure compliance with all legal and ethical standards in fundraising practices.
– Assist with other activities of the grant and fundraising efforts as needed.
Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and previous experience in grant writing or fundraising within the nonprofit sector.
Key skills include:
– Strong written and verbal communication, research and analytical abilities, and organizational skills with attention to detail.
– Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and donor
– CRM software
– Ability to work independently
– Manage multiple projects
– Collaborate with others
– Strong interpersonal skills for building relationships with donors and stakeholders
– A passion for the coalition’s mission to create a framework that combines efforts to promote San Pedro’s authentic cultures and artists, including, but not limited to, visual, performing, digital artists, culture bearers, galleries, and entertainment venues with a unified approach to advocacy, marketing, and programming
