The Grant Writer will work closely with the Artistic Director and Executive Director to achieve RKDC’s.
fundraising objectives. This position is responsible for the full range of grant development activities for the organization, in particular, grant research, drafting proposals, and assembling materials and various attachments. RKDC has seen unprecedented growth in its budget, due in large part to the increase in submitted grant proposals since 2021.

Once selected, RKDC Leadership and Grant Writer will put together a scope of work that includes monthly deliverables and projected hours. Anticipated hours range from 20-30 hours per month depending on the grant workload at hand.
The ideal candidate is an exceptional writer who crafts compelling proposals in RKDC’s unique voice and is an active listener and engaging storyteller with an understanding of dance as an art form. The successful candidate is also a quick learner and problem solver, with extreme attention to detail with an ability to manage multiple tasks and work both independently and as a solid team player.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
● Understand RKDC’s institutional history and programs.
● Conduct the full range of activities required to prepare, write, submit, and manage grant proposals to foundation and corporate sources.
● Collaborate with the RKDC leadership team on grant proposals, milestones, and prospective grants.
● Determine proposal concepts with Artistic Director and Executive Director by identifying and clarifying opportunities and needs and studying requests for proposal (RFPs).
● Attend routine meetings to discuss prospective, on-deck, in-process, and closing grants.
● Develop strategies for new or increased support from current and prospective funders.
● Write stewardship reports as needed and meet reporting deadlines by establishing priorities and target dates for information gathering, writing, review, and approval.
● Ensure organizational compliance with all active grant contracts, including crediting, deliverables, and reporting.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
The Grant Writer will be a highly motivated self-starter with 3-5 years of work experience, preferably in grant writing for nonprofit dance organizations, and a bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, or a related field.

● Ability to prepare grant summaries and reports to various funders and agencies.
● The capacity to multitask and manage multiple projects and assignments, often with competing deadlines.
● Understand state, regional, and national funders.
● Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

REQUIREMENTS
● Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) with 3-5 years of fundraising experience in a nonprofit development/fundraising support capacity with demonstrated experience successfully receiving grant funding.
● Experience submitting grant proposals including grant narratives and assembling numerous required attachments.
● Experience submitting updates, summaries, and final grant reports.
● Reliable computer, internet connection, and all other related office supplies to successfully complete the responsibilities listed above.
● Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
