Jeni Abramson — Gallery Director (Part-Time, Remote)

Jeni Abramson Gallery

Remote (Los Angeles or New York preferred)

Location: Remote (Los Angeles or New York preferred) with travel to art fairs
Hours: 20 hours per week
Start date: September 2026

About the program:
Jeni Abramson is a Los Angeles gallery program presenting photography and image-based art, multimedia, and conceptual art. Opening September 2026 with an inaugural exhibition by Michel Auder, the program works with artists whose practice interrogates how political, economic, and technological systems operate through images. We participate in Untitled Art Fair Houston and Untitled Art Fair Miami 2026, EXPO Chicago, with Paris Photo and additional fairs as longer-term targets.

The role:

We are seeking a part-time Gallery Director to manage the press, institutional, and operational infrastructure of the program. This is a remote role with significant autonomy — the right candidate is self-directed, well-networked, and equally comfortable writing a press release, calling a museum curator, and coordinating an art fair logistics chain.

The position requires travel to art fairs (approximately four to six days per fair, two to three fairs annually). All fair travel and accommodation is covered by the gallery.

Responsibilities:

– Press and communications
– Draft and distribute press releases for exhibitions and fair participation
– Build and maintain relationships with press contacts — critics, editors, and writers nationally and internationally
– Manage the gallery’s press list and coordinate review coverage
– Liaise with Artsy and other digital platforms for exhibition listings
– Museum and institutional relations
– Develop and maintain relationships with curators at institutions nationally — MOCA, Hammer, Whitney, MoMA PS1, ICA, and beyond
– Coordinate loan requests and institutional inquiries
– Represent the gallery at art fairs and key institutional events

Exhibition and fair production:

– Coordinate art handling, shipping, and crating logistics for exhibitions and fairs
– Oversee booth installation and de-installation at fairs (on-site presence required)
– Manage vendor relationships — framers, fabricators, art handlers
– Maintain condition reports and artwork documentation

Gallery operations:

– Manage the ArtLogic database — inventory, consignment records, contact management
– Handle day-to-day gallery administration and artist communications
– Coordinate fair logistics including booth setup, shipping, and floor plan

What we’re looking for:

– 5+ years of experience in gallery, museum, or arts administration
– Existing relationships with national press and institutional contacts strongly preferred
– Experience coordinating art fair participation and managing installation logistics
– Familiarity with ArtLogic or comparable gallery management software
– Strong written communication — press release writing is a core requirement
– Genuine interest in photography, multimedia, and conceptual art
– Highly self-directed with the ability to manage multiple projects remotely

Salary: $30,000 – $35,000 annually

Benefits: None

Education requirements: Bachelor’s degree

Deadline to apply: September 30, 2026

Documents required to apply: Resume, writing sample
